Questions for Romans 10:1-21

  1. Read verses 1-3. Can you think of some other examples of people who “have a zeal for God but not in accordance with knowledge”?
  2. Read verse 4. What does it mean to you that “Christ is the end of the law”?
  3. Read verses 5-8 and react to this statement: We should not try to predict who is saved and who is not.
  4. Read verses 11-13. How does this address the false teaching that God only wants to save some?
  5. React to Andrew’s statement: “It’s not about the size of your faith. It’s about where you point it!”
  6. Read verses 19-21. How does this passage once again affirm that Paul has been talking about people groups (not individuals) being part of God’s predestined plan

Discussion Questions for Romans 9:

  1. Read verses 1-5. Why does Paul say he’s telling the truth and why would he be willing to give up his own salvation?
  2. Read verses 6-8. Explain “they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel.”
  3. Read verses 9-12. How do Isaac and Ishmael, and Jacob and Esau, both make the point that physical Israel doesn’t get a free pass and God can do as He pleases?
  4. Read verses 14-18. Who is “the man who wills or the man who runs” in this passage? And who is it that God has decided to have mercy on today under the new covenant?
  5. Read verses 19-24. Who are the vessels of common use (vessels of wrath)? Who are the vessels of honorable use? What is Paul defending in the passage?
  6. Read verses 25-26. How does the Old Testament quote from Hosea reveal the true meaning of predestination in Romans 9?
  7. Read verses 30-31. How is this a summation or encapsulation of the whole chapter?
  8. Read verses 32-33. How is Jesus a stumbling stone to the Jews? And what does it mean to you that believers in Him “will not be disappointed”?

WHAT TO EXPECT @ THE GRACE CHURCH ONLINE

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? NO PRESSURE. NO GUILT. JUST JESUS!

At The Grace Church online, you’re welcome to join with friends from across North America and beyond in celebrating the finished work of Jesus Christ! Each Sunday service lasts around an hour and includes contemporary worship and biblical teaching centered on Christ and the New Covenant.

Unlike most churches, our online service is not simply a video feed from a service happening at a local church building. Our service is designed specifically for YOU, an online viewer watching either by yourself or with a group of friends.

By recording our service in a studio several days prior, it allows you to:

      • Hear the same teaching we offer at our physical campuses
      • Be the first to see the service at a variety of time options
      • Participate in worship and Bible teaching developed intentionally for you at home
      • Avoid any hiccups with internet, A/V, or power outages
      • Connect with people worldwide
      • Access study questions simultaneous to the message
      • Join with others in experiencing church in a smaller, more intimate setting, similar to the early church in the New Testament book of Acts
      • Develop a group with a home church feel but with the certainty of music and teaching that stays focused on the New Covenant
      • Be a part of reaching more people with the message of God’s love and grace than we could within the limitations of physical church walls!

We’re excited to facilitate community through features like commenting, discussion questions, and weekday online groups to help you find community no matter where you’re located geographically!
